Under Construction

So the amazing thing, at least to me, is that it only took me about 2 minutes to get this blog up. On the other hand, I am an extreme neophyte when it comes to the coding so some of this blog will look.... um... unfinished, for a few days. Pardon the mess.

T Minus 2... Why the Wandering Bell?

So why did I choose this as the name for my first sally into the blogging sphere? It’s the closest thing I could find that describes me. Since I finished law school a few years ago, I have been employed, but have not managed to stay in one place for very long. I've worked for the government (still my favorite job) until the funding ran out. I've done the contract thing (on my 3rd go round now). And I've worked for a private firm. Through it all, well except when I was with the government, I have been doing pro bono work to learn the things I that law school and others do not have the time/inclination to want to teach.

Alright, so I wander about the working world so why a Bell, you may ask? Basically it’s because that is the logo on the back of one of my hats, which came from where I went to school. It was my birthday present this year from my girlfriend. She liked the little logo because she said it reminds her of me when I get angry. So put it all together, and I am wandering (or angry) bell.

So where is this all leading? Well starting in the New Year, I will go wandering off the path again. This time, instead of working for someone else, it will be on my own. That's right, I am starting my own law firm. I am both really excited about this and a bit scared. The fear, as I'm sure you could imagine, comes from one place: money. How do I pay for everything? Yikes. I like it when other people do the worrying about that bit for me.

On the other hand, I get the opportunity to try new things, to be in control of my own projects. It’s that nice ability to choose what kind of work I do, rather than be told by bosses what kind of work they think I am suited to do.

Alright, so now that I have said I am doing this, we shall see how this works out. So more on this in the New Year.
